Hi All,

I was listening to this episode of In the Thick during this past weekend and it touched upon a lot of the issues that we discussed last week as far as who is seen “white” in the US and who qualifies to become a citizen. I just wanted to share it with all of you in case you had some time to listen to it.

11/9.

…I heard a woman

screaming,

the fog of her breath

coloring

the cloudless autumn night.

And though there

were no clouds

her lap was wet,

A solemn rain

proceeding quietly

from the black skies

in her eyes.

Knowing her sadness,

I  too, wept for her.

And for the part of myself

 too afraid to face

what history

was telling us all along.

We have been here before.

In fact, we never left.
